Awards for Burdon, Harding, Allen and Sales last month

Luke Burdon continues to bang in the goals for Premier Division pace setters Bromley Green and his form in front of goal earns the prolific striker the October player of the month award. Burdon, who recently joined SCEFL side Canterbury City, scored six goals last month including five in the 6-2 Kent Sunday Premier Cup victory over Simla in a game the young forward was “simply unplayable’ according to Green boss Gary Gibbs. He also netted in the 6-3 Bodkin Cup win away at Folkestone United to take his goal tally for the season to 22 in all competitions.

The Division One player of the month award goes to Cheriton AFC midfielder Craig Harding who helped his side to three important wins in October. Harding claimed the match ball scoring a hat-trick in Cheriton’s 8-0 victory over Troggs in the Charity Trophy, before playing an instrumental role in his sides fantastic 4-2 win away at Camden Arms in the Kent Sunday Premier Cup. The hard-working midfielder also helped Cheriton dump Premier Division side Mersham Sports out of the Bodkin Cup as Chris Jones’ side ran out 4-2 winners.

In-form Troggs striker Ben Allen wins the October Division Two player of the month prize after his goals helped the Smarden based outfit jump up to second place in the league standings last month. Allen has just returned from a serious injury that has kept the forward on the side lines for nearly a year and returned with a bang scoring six goals in three appearances last month. Allen scored two goals in each of the victories against Hamstreet, Biddenden and the Kent Sunday Junior Trophy win at AFC Phoenix as Tim Archer’s side remain unbeaten at home so far this season.

Another player making a real difference is Folkestone United Reserves striker Ashley Sales whose goals continue to earn him the plaudits and the Division Three player of the month award. The former Shepway Spartans and Master Brewer hitman has scored 20 goals so far this season for United including five in his three appearances for the club in October. Sales scored three times as Folkestone beat Kingsnorth Pilgrims 7-1 away from home and added another two in their 4-3 away victory at Pilgrims Sunday.
