Awards for Friday, Guven, Horne and Shaw

Premier Division

Stanhope & Beaver Rangers manager Paul Friday enjoyed a fantastic month in charge of the newly promoted top division team and is recognised for his efforts with the Premier Division manager of the month award. Rangers were promoted from Division One last season finishing in third place behind Red Heathens and Lolzors and have adjusted to life with the big boys well winning three games out of three in October.

Friday and Brett Ades guided their side to a narrow 4-3 win against Singleton Barn at the start of the month to progress to the quarter finals of the Charity Trophy, before following that up with a 6-3 victory over Lolzors in the league thanks to Dan Cornell’s brace of goals. Last weekend they continued their winning streak pulling off a 3-2 win against Kennington in the Kent Sunday Premier Cup and now face West Kent League side Green Lane in the third-round next weekend.

Division One

League newcomers Ashford Genclik completed a perfect month in October winning all four of their fixtures after adjusting to life in the Ashford Sunday League after a difficult start. The Kennington-based team are still looking to appoint a full-time manager with several of their squad having an input into team selection, although Yasin Guven is seen to have the final say and claims the monthly award.

Genclik won all three of their league games against tough opposition including ending Horsebox Bars unbeaten start to the campaign in their 4-0 victory at the Towers two-weeks ago. Guven’s side also beat Aldington and Folkestone United away from home as they moved up to third in the table, while they also beat Appledore 4-3 to move into the hat for the quarter finals of the Bodkin Cup.

Division Two

The Division Two manager of the month prize goes to South Willesborough gaffer Brad Horne after he guided his side to an unbeaten month in October. The Frog Islanders picked up three wins and a draw from their four fixtures last month to move up to sixth in the Division Two league standings to bounce back after suffering two league defeats in their opening three league games.

Horne’s side thrashed Smeeth & Brabourne 8-0 in the first round of the Charity Trophy at the start of the month before going on to comfortably beat Maidstone-based Invicta Sunday 5-0 in the Kent Sunday Junior Trophy. South Willesborough held on to beat Fox Sunday 4-3 in the league two-weeks ago before claiming an important point in their 3-3 draw at home to Ashford Spartans last week to stretch their unbeaten run to four games.

Division Three

Tom Shaw wins the Division Three manager of the month award after his Mersham Reserves side continued their amazing winning start to the season last month. Shaw’s side have won all seven of their competitive fixtures so far this season, including all three in October as Mersham look to bounce back from the disappointment of relegation from Division Two last term.

The villagers picked up a maximum six points from their two league games beating Charing Reserves 2-0 before thrashing Aldington Reserves 9-1 last weekend to move up to second in the league standings. They also progressed to the third round of the Kent Sunday Junior Trophy thanks to their 2-1 victory at home to Pilgrims Sunday and now await the winners of the rescheduled second round tie between Tunbridge Wells Youth Ridgewaye Reserves or promotion rivals Singleton Barn in the next round.
