Cornell treble helps Rangers to victory over the Albion, while two goals from Bradfield see Hythe snatch late winner at Aldington

Sunday saw the last chance for most teams to put in their final preparations for the new Ashford & District Sunday League season which kicks off next weekend after a six-month break of no competitive football. Bromley Green take on Stanhope & Beaver Rangers in their season opener next Sunday, and warmed up for the big kick off with a comprehensive 7-0 victory away at South Willesborough at the Spearpoint. Former Hythe Town forward Pat Kingwell was on top form for the Green netting a hat-trick while summer signing Carlum Macleod, previously of Green's rivals Market Hotel, also found the back of the net for Gary Gibbs' side. Last season's top goal scorer Luke Burdon added a fifth while penalties from Kieran Shrimpton and fit-again Ryan Prior completed the scoring in what could have been a bigger winning margin had it not been for Tom Moon in goal for the Frogs against his former club.

At Pitchside, Dan Cornell also scored three times as Stanhope & Beaver Rangers recorded a decent 4-1 victory over league newcomers Albion (pictured above), with Liam Whiting on target for the pub side, while Tom Wilson netted a brace as Premier Division side Mersham Sports defeated Burton Grove winning 3-0. Meanwhile, Division Three side Folkestone United Reserves pulled off a fantastic result in beating Premier Division newcomers Sandgate Saint-Germain 5-4 despite going two goals behind at Swan Lane. Tommy Etherington and Matt King both scored twice for United, including a penalty apiece, while Jack Sproston also netted to complete a morale boosting victory. Folkestone's first team didn't have the same luck as a bare eleven went down losing 3-1 away at Division Two side Park Farm Rangers. United's goal came courtesy of an own goal in the first half as Rangers romped home to victory thanks to strikes from Dan Hall, Daniel Marshall and Joe Ogunbiyi.

Appledore look strong contenders for an immediate return to Division One this season following relegation last term as they thrashed Cheriton AFC 10-1 at home. Former Ashford United Thirds forward Rhys Hodges scored three times for the Smugglers but had to fight for the match ball with fellow new signing Bradley Osbourne who also netted a hat-trick for the hosts. Gabriel Madalin Anghel scored two more while Liam Overy and Tom Draper completed the scoring.

Hythe Athletic continued their excellent pre-season form coming away from their trip to Premier Division Aldington 4-3 winners. Hythe opened the scoring inside the opening sixty-seconds from a corner when Ethan Bradfield got the all-important final touch to put the visitors in front, but Aldington got back on level terms 20 minutes later when Stephen Cowell's effort was only parried and forward Alex Williams was on hand to follow up on the rebound. Hythe regained the lead in fortunate circumstances as a mix up between defender Sam Petto and young goalkeeper Lewis Briggs saw the former score an own goal, but Aldington hit back again to make it 2-2 thanks to Cowell's penalty kick at the start of the second half. Bradfield scored his second goal of the morning, again from another Athletic set piece, to put Hythe 3-2 ahead, before Jack Price hammered home an unstoppable effort to equalise for the hosts for a third time in the game. But there was still time for Hythe to snatch a dramatic late winner as Sam Ewins saw his effort creep inside the near post to snatch a decent victory for the Division Two side.

Ashford United Thirds got the better of Division Two rivals Ashford Spartans winning 6-2 at Homelands Stadium. John Giles grabbed a hat-trick for United with Kris Melachrino adding two more and Jordan Boorer also finding the back of the net, birthday boy Tom Wilkes replied for Spartans while new signing Danny Young also got on the score sheet on his return. Josh Hatcher continued his decent pre-season form netting a penalty to help Charing defeat Pilgrims 3-0, James Fraser and Robbie Burns also on target for Lee Woods' side, while Shepway rivals Sellindge SSC and Golden Arrow played out an entertaining 4-4 draw at Swan Lane.

Jack Griffin scored the only goal of the game as Mersham Sports Reserves beat Division Three rivals Charing Reserves at the Moat, while Division Two side Fox Sunday saw off Waterside winning 2-0 at Sandyacres thanks to goals from George Large and Tom Weeks. Biddenden recorded back to back pre-season wins with a 5-4 victory over Singleton Barn with Harry Lambourn scoring twice for the 'Dens. Further goals from Morgan Waite, James Solly and Barney Maybourne completed the scoring and cancel out Ben Bromley's treble and a Paul Halliday strike for the Barn. Bromley Green Reserves are expected to go well in Division Three this season and finished off their pre-season schedule with a 5-2 victory at league newcomers FC Folkestone thanks to goals from Reece Pringle, Charlie Wallis, Hassan Hussain, Alfie Glendenning and Bradley Taffurelli.

Elsewhere Hamstreet saw off Ashford Dynamo winning 2-1, while Lolzors returned from their trip to Division Two side Egerton 4-2 winners with Nathan Boxall scoring twice and Jack Teehan and Alfie Prior scoring one apiece.
